Stallworth Signs with Ravens

Donte’ Stallworth has signed with the Baltimore Ravens, per www.profootballtalk.com

This signing could either make me laugh on a weekly basis or be a weekly irritation.  It’ll make me laugh if he never sees the field due to injury concerns.  Yep that’s right, I’ll laugh if the guy gets hurt.  Normally I don’t wish injury on a player, and I’m actually not wishing him injury, I just will find it funny if he can’t play.  How often did this guy miss playing time because of a hamstring issue or whatever else the whiner was complaining about that week.  He did absolutely nothing for the Browns and I hope he does less for the Ravens.

On the other hand, if he lights it up for the Ravens it’ll just be another slap in the face to the Browns.  Not so much so because we let him go, but because he did nothing for us when he was here.  It’d be like, well you’re playing good for the Ravens, why’d you have to suck for the Browns?  I still wouldn’t want him on our team this year no matter what, but I still hope he plays like crap for the Ravens.

Who’s terrible??? The Who… that’s who. (Too much?)

Did anyone else shove metal skewers into their ear drums during the half time show?  That is if you hadn’t already done so during Queen Latifah’s singing of American the Beautiful.  The Who was absolutely awful.  It was one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen and it’s clear that Roger Daultry is DONE!  And this is coming from a Who fan… somewhat.  There’s a few songs that I actually think are great and Baba O’Reilly is one of them.  It still irritates me to no end when someone calls that song Teenage Wasteland.  It’s like how “Friends” of mine used to download music on Napster and think that The Doors sang “House of the Rising Sun” because some idiot titled the MP3 wrong.

Anyway, yes the Who was bad.  There is some speculation going on that they were lip synching, but I’m not so sure.  I mean, there was a moment in a song where it looked like Daultry’s lips were off with the sound, but if they were going to lip synch, why wouldn’t they have a better recording of it all.  It was THAT freaking bad.  I haven’t seen such a bad half time show since Aerosmith teamed up with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.  At least the Rolling Stones can still put on a good show.

The NFL would have been better off exhuming Jimi Hendrix’s body and billing that as the half time show.

Here’s the link and see what you think.

1st Down??? Are you kidding ME!!!

If you watched the game yesterday, then you’re probably just as angry as me.  You should be at least.  How could the refs signal first down for the Steelers when they clearly came up short on 4th down?  Don’t give me any of this camera angle BS either, because if you look you can clearly see it’s a side view.  You can even see the white yardage marker the ball is sitting on.  There’s nothing wrong with this point of view.  They were SHORT, end of story!  Here’s the picture.

1stdown

Will somebody please explain to me why there’s been absolutely no backlash against these referees?  They screwed the Browns.  It does NOT matter if you think we still would have lost the game.  The fact remains that in the spirit of FAIR competition, this kind of crap should not happen… EVER!  It is the worst officiating call I’ve ever seen in my life.  The fact that there was NO explanation from the referees was bad too.  How could you make such an error on the field and not even have the guts to explain yourself.  If this had happened in Cleveland, the field would have been littered with whatever fans could throw, regardless of how right, wrong, or embarrassing it would have been.

Fans should be outraged.  Yes, our team sucks, but that doesn’t make this right.  If the Steelers had any class at all, they would have said something.  They don’t have any though, and the abundance of BS calls in their favor is sickening.

I hope these referees are fined, demoted, and never able to officiate an NFL game again.  I want an apology from the league.  There is no excuse for standing behind this injustice.

No, not again…

Favre vikings

I’m sure by now, almost all of you have heard about Brett Favre joining the Minnesota Vikings.  Not only is it an absolute joke that he’s coming back yet again, but a complete smack in the face for Packers fans.  For me, it would be the same type of joke had Brian Sipe unretired and joined the Steelers.  I can’t believe that he has been able to manipulate the system for four years, retiring and un-retiring, ultimately tripling the size of his swelled ego.  If I were a Packer fan I’d be ticked off.  Actually I’d be ticked off if I was a Viking fan too.  They have no idea what they’re in for.  Most of them are probably excited about the benefits of having Favre under center, but what they don’t realize is that he’s only good for the first half of the season.  During that first half of the season he will throw about as many TD’s as INT’s, and the second half of the season will be riddled with more INT’s than TD’s.  It’s a proven track record with Favre.

Now lets talk about money.  If you were the GM of a football team, and saw Favre’s production the last two or three years, would you sign the guy for 12 million for one year?  Only if you’re an idiot!  That’s a lot of money to throw at an old man (In football terms).  In my opinion he’s not worth it.  I understand that it was the only way they could get him to come back yet again, but it’s just not worth it.  They would have been better off signing Vick and letting Jackson QB the first six games while Vick served his suspension.  They probably could have gotten Vick a little cheaper than Philly considering they’d be offering him the starting role, not backup to McNaab.  Oh well, I’m just irritated by the biggest drama queen to hit the NFL since… well actually I can’t think of a bigger drama queen than Favre.

Cribbs is drinking far too much of his own kool-aid

cribbsrx1_th

What’s with all of the false sense of entitlements lately?  It seems like every NFL starter wants a new contract these days, regardless of how many years they have on their CURRENT contract.  Now it seems like even the non-position players want a new contract too.  It’s unbelievable!  Josh Cribbs has chosen not to attend the "Voluntary" Organized Team Activities because he wants a new contract.  Apparently Phil Savage and CO. had promised him that he would be taken care of.  Well I have news for you Josh…Savage isn’t here anymore!  Kokinis has stated recently that no one of the new regime was aware of any such promise.  Cribbs still has plenty of time on his current contract, and gets paid very well for a non-starting player.  I’ve heard he’s asking for 4 years and $40 million, which is unsubstantiated but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true.  It absolutely sickens me.

YOU DON’T EVEN START!  YOU’RE A SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER AND THAT’S ALL YOU’LL EVER BE!

Yes I think Cribbs is a beast on special teams and I love having him on the team.  But NO special teams player is worth that kind of big money.  He’ll never be a starter at any position, which means his opportunities to be a game changer are few and far between.  I’m sorry to some clueless fans out there who think he’s our next savior at WR, QB, or Safety…but he’s not.  The only reason he’s so good on special teams is because he’s fearless.

HOW FEARLESS DO YOU THINK HE’LL BE THIS SEASON AS A $40 MILLION PRIMA DONNA?

And now he’s claiming that if his contract is not reworked, he’ll ask for a trade.  I used to have so much respect for this kid, but he’s losing me fast.  Let’s see how many teams are willing to trade for a special teamer who wants big contract money.  It’s impossible to get anything near his value in trade.  Can anyone tell me one reason why we should pay this kid big money?

He is a great player for us…because he comes cheap!  I believe his base salary this season is somewhere around $600,000.  I’d be willing to go as high as $1 million if I were Randy Lerner.  Anything more than that and it’s just not worth it for the amount he’ll see the field.

LET ME REITERATE…TOUCHING THE BALL THREE TIMES PER GAME DOES NOT WARRANT A CRAP LOAD OF MONEY!!!

What to look forward to:

noose2

The Browns downright suck!  There haven’t been a whole lot to look forward to this whole season and there sure isn’t for the remaining two games.  The Bengals are as bad if not worse than the Browns, and Pittsburgh will probably rest most of their starters against us because they can win without them.  YAY.

So what do we Browns fans have to look forward to?

1.  Romeo Crennel (a.k.a. Crennelephant) getting the boot.

2.  Phil Savage possibly getting canned.

3.  The hiring of the new coach/gm.

4.  The excitement that always seems to blind us when we see a possibility for a new and better beginning.

5.  The possible trade of Kellen Winslow.

6.  The whining and crying of Braylon Edwards.

7.  The likely trade of Derek Anderson for a bag of footballs because he has very little value now….Thanks Savage.

And my personal favorites…

8.  THE DRAFT

9.  WAITING ANOTHER 3 YEARS TO HAVE A GOOD TEAM WHILE WE "REBUILD".

Jeff Garcia the Bank Robber?

Jeff Garcia Jeff Garcia

Former Browns QB also-ran Jeff Garcia bears an awful resemblance to the guy the FBI is searching for right now in connection with a bank robbery in Sheffield, OH.

Savage curses??? Oh dear!

Browns GM Savage sent e-mail containing expletive

Link

By TOM WITHERS, AP Sports Writer

BEREA, Ohio (AP)—Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage sent an e-mail containing an expletive in response to a disparaging message he received from a fan during the team’s Monday night game against Buffalo, coach Romeo Crennel confirmed Thursday.

Crennel said he spoke with Savage, who sent the e-mail during Cleveland’s 29-27 win over the Bills.

“We all get frustrated at times,” Crennel said. “Phil generally, like the rest of us, tries to be professional and hold it in. But sometimes some things slip out. It’s unfortunate that it slipped out. Tough times, tough things happen. I’m sure that if we had it to do over again we’d do it a little bit differently.”

Savage’s e-mail exchange with the fan was first reported on sports blog deadspin.com.

Savage has not yet commented on the e-mail.

The incident is just the latest episode in a tumultuous season for the Browns, who are a disappointing 4-6 after winning 10 games last season.

Last month, Savage was involved in a dispute with Pro Bowl tight end Kellen Winslow, who criticized the club for its handling of a three-day hospitalization for a staph infection. Winslow was initially suspended for one game for his comments, but the club later rescinded the penalty after learning that a team employee had sent a text message to Winslow telling him not to disclose he had staph.

The Browns have had at least six known cases of staph since 2005.

In addition, the Browns recently benched starting quarterback Derek Anderson in favor of backup Brady Quinn, who has gone 1-1 in two starts since getting the job. During his news conference on Thursday, Crennel revealed that Quinn broke his right index finger in the first half of Monday night’s win over Buffalo.

Quinn, though, stayed in the game and is expected to play Sunday when the Browns host the Houston Texans.

Who cares?  Big deal.  I’m glad to see he’s getting frustrated.  I’d like to see a little more of that out of you Romeo.  Show everyone you’re sick of this crap too.  Do you even realize that Phil is probably the most upset with you, Romeo?  You’re a defensive coach man, yet our defense continues to give up good leads in games.  You might not even have a job today if Buffalo’s kick hadn’t gone wide right.

Who doesn’t use expletives when watching or discussing the Browns?  I sure do!  When something irritates and infuriates a city to no end like the Browns, even the nicest of Grandmas will spew out a mouthful of curses that would make a sailor blush.

This Is Ridiculous

PSL’s are the devil.  You shouldn’t have to buy a license for the right to buy a seat.

image

So in my opinion, even $1 is too much to pay.  The Jets think that $200,000 for a PSL on the 50 yard line is perfectly reasonable.

Yes, I said $200,000.

This is from Deadspin:

That’s just for the right to buy the tickets, which cost $700 a game. (The most expensive seat in the current Giants Stadium is $115.) So what do you get for all that coin? Free food, free parking, a separate non-plebe-infested entrance to the stadium and a special patio that allows you stand on the field next to the Jets bench during the games. Smell the excitement!

The rest of the Coaches Club seat licenses are being auctioned off separately on StubHub right now and front row seats are going for about $60K a piece. All for the honor of being able to pay $14,000 a year to watch Brett Favre throw game-killing interceptions and maybe get to see that fireman guy do his J-E-T-S thing. Provided they even let that cheap-o back in the building.

I can’t believe anyone would ever pay for this, especially to see the lame Jets.

Pacman, Are You Serious?

So the whole Pacman Jones saga has been very well documented.

Got arrested about a thousand times, was suspended by the league, was traded while under suspension, then joins the Dallas Cowboys.

Well yesterday, Roger Goodell was at the Cowboys’ headquarters to speak to the team, and just before he did, he had this to say about Pacman.

"Adam knows how much emphasis I put on making sure that he makes good choices going forward, that he avoids situations where he can reflect poorly on himself, the Cowboys or the NFL. So far he seems to have been able to do that very effectively.

"I am supportive of him and am hopeful that he will be able to do that for the rest of his life. I am hoping he will not only be a great NFL player but he will continue to do the right things so he can lead a productive life off the field as well."

So what does Pacman do later on that night?  Well get in a fight with a member of his security team of course!

Yeah….a member of his security team was using the bathroom at a Dallas hotel, where Pacman entered after him, caused some ruckus, and eventually the hotel staff called the police.

Although no charges were filed and no police report was written, Pacman was directly involved in ANOTHER incident late at night.

This guy, my friends, is a genius.
