Stop encouraging Tim Tebow

Tim Tebow is now fourth in QB votes for the AFC Pro Bowl by fans. WHY??? What has he done to earn a Pro Bowl bid as a quarterback?

I absolutely do not like Tim Tebow, and I absolutely hate the crush America has on him. I admit that the kid wins games, so far at least. He wins them with his legs though, he’s not a quarterback! I repeat, He’s not a freaking quarterback! He’s a running back who occasionally throws the ball. When the rest of the NFL runs this type of offense, it’s called the Wildcat! Josh Cribbs won 4 games in a row for the Browns a couple years ago by running the Wildcat. For the record, I didn’t like it when the Browns ran the Wildcat. I thought it was a gimmick and only a matter of time before the NFL figured out a way to stop it and I firmly believe that soon all NFL Defensive Coordinators will know exactly how to stop Timmy. The only difference between the Broncos and the Browns is that the entire nation thinks Tebow walks on water. Which brings up my next rant…

I’m tired of Tebow shoving religion down everyone’s throats whenever there’s a camera in front of him. We get it, you’re deeply religious. Jake Plummer twittered a couple of weeks ago how he’s sick of it too. When a reporter asks Tebow about the game-winning touchdown or what he was thinking when he decided to take off and run with the ball for the 300th time, he should not answer with Psalms 21:3, or any other Bible verse. He should talk about football! I don’t care that he’s religious. In fact, I think it’s great that he devotes his life to something better than some of the other NFL players do, like drugs and guns. However, I firmly believe that being a fanatic about anything is unhealthy, and he’s certainly a religious fanatic. That’s his choice and that’s fine, but I’m tired of hearing about it. Talk about football, or don’t talk at all, because you’re only paid to talk about football.

My my so full of hate..Maybe you should turn off the tv and spend some quiet time by yourself.

  2. Dan Smith Says:

I’m with you. The fan vote is just crippling. Imagine if fans got to vote in USA today poll for college football, it would be a cluster too, just like the NBA and now the NFL.

  3. Randy Jones Says:

Its all about wins… Something that Browns plan on not doing for the forseeable future. All this shit about whats a quaterback, who’s better Terry Bradshaw or Dan Marino? Its all about wins buddy and Tebow while Colt McCoy makes resevations for the CFL. Good Luck being terrible for the next 20 years. See you in the playoffs

  4. Dude Says:

You obvioulsy dont know anything about the wildcat. The Broncos are not running the wildcat. This is a college style spread option offense. I understand you may be sour about being a Browns fan but if Tebow was winning games for the Browns you would not have this opinion. I don’t think he is a Pro Bowl quarterback but it is hard to say anything when all the guy does is win.

  5. Toby Says:

    Mike N….piss off!

  6. L PAT WILLIAMS Says:

Seriously? Wow! So, then is it unhealthy to be a FOOTBALL FAN? You know the word “fan” is derived
    from the WORD – FANATIC!

See it is OK to be a FAN i.e., “fanatic” about SPORTS, ROCK MUSIC, RAP MUSIC, HOLLYWOOD MOVIES,
FASHION or whatever — but oh no — don’t be a FAN about JESUS CHRIST!

Well, I got news for YOU! I AM FAN OF JESUS CHRIST just like TEBOW!

    And, GOD BLESS HIM!

Unbelievers do NOT get it! You guys “shove” your beliefs (or lack of belief) constantly down society’s
throat by your mores and “beliefs” but the MOMENT a CHILD OF GOD gives praise to HIM and is bold,
daring and unafraid to do so…

Then, they are chastised for being “over the top” and “fanatic!”

    Well, so are you!

And, I say PRAY ON TEBOW! Show your FAITH. Everybody else can be OPEN and COME OUT OF THE
CLOSET — except a CHRISTIAN? I don’t think so! The Lord Jesus Christ says: “LIFT ME UP and I will
    draw all men unto me.”

So, KEEP ON LIFTING THE SAVIOR UP TEBOW! And, be NOT ASHAMED of the GOSPEL and GLORY
    OF JESUS CHRIST.

While others are ‘lifting up” their beliefs, how dare the Child of God not Lift HIM up!

And, by the way Tebow and no TRUE Christian is religious!

Religion is rules and formality. We walk by FAITH in our RELATIONSHIP with The Lord Jesus Christ!

And, just like the WORLD can celebrate their RELATIONSHIPS, We celebrate our RELATIONSHIP
with HIM. So, stop hating and start participating! :)

    Because that’s what’s up!

  7. David Bach Says:

Well, Mike N., some of us are tired of A-hole like you that are “sick” of everything. Your just a jerk, a coward, and an ass. Instead of bashing just Tebow, why don’t you just show your true colors and show your hate again religion, and Christianity, as a whole?

I’m sick of turning the other cheek to swine like you. Your hate and jealousy will kill you.

You are an EPIC failure as a human being.

  8. Derp Says:

    U MAD BRO!!!!!!

  9. Skeet Says:

SO Y Dont U Do Sumthin along those lines..

  10. Mike Says:

Ok, this post is dumb. go back to watching your garbage browns.

  11. Christopher Says:

Dude – get over yourself, Tebow has been an underdog doing something different, bucking the establishment.

  12. J Says:

You know he’s not paid to talk about football right? He’s payed to play and win, and so far he’s doing his job. You are an idiot.

  13. Cheri Says:

Unless you are against good things and good feelings about something, what are you so worried about? Tebow is not going to convert football fanatics to God, as you so eloquently have shown in your whining. You sound like a bratty girl child. Who cares what someone is fanatic about if it is not hurting anybody else? You are fanatic about football. So what’s the difference between you and Tebow? If you think he can be stopped, then what are you so worried about? If he is stopped, then what will you talk about? Football. Grow up. Find a more logical reason to dislike someone.

  14. jmazz Says:

I like how his detractors can do nothing but whine now
. No one cares that u don’t like tebow, whether u want to believe it or not with all the leadership strength and running ability he only. Has to develop into a mediocre passer to be effective long term and I think he’ll do that and then some. U better get used to him because he’s not going away any time soon

  15. TheTruth Says:

What’s your real opinion?!? The bum who crafted this rant is a biased IDIOT! Thanks for wasting everyone’s time with this childish dribble. I will not get those few minutes of my life back.

  16. Milk Says:

    Freedom of SPEECH.

  17. VT Says:

Thanks – I completely agree. I cannot believe that he is so high up on the Pro Bowl voting. He has a done a better job than Orton, but really, the quality of teams he has beaten isn’t great, not to mention that it’s the Broncos defense that has carried them for 55 of 60 minutes each game. I really hope they do get into the playoffs, because the shellacking they will get there will hopefully prove how inept he is at quarterback.

As to religion, good for him, but really, the rest of us should be spared the display. Religion should be a personal thing and displaying it so openly on a football field on national TV is just discomforting and in my opinion, is insulting to everybody else, no matter what religion they belong to (or don’t, for that matter).

  18. Hadley Givens Says:

This little “rant” is exactly what this is, pure ignorance. Try typing out an intelligent comment rather than a middle school rant. Tim Tebow is a second year quarterback in the NFL, he is obviously not going to have the most amazing arm and accuracy in the league. He does, however, have heart, and drive and will do whatever it takes to ensure his passing to get better. Granted, the running and wildcat offense may not work forever, it is winning games right now, not only against not so good teams like the Chiefs, but also against the Jets. Tebow has managed to come through for his team when they really need it. It’s obvious that everyone on the team has stepped up due to the fact that he brings such a strong presence on the field and a thought that they CAN win, and everyone can see that.
As for the religious aspect, it’s his decision, if you do not want to choose to believe what he is saying that’s your choice, but he is still allowed to say whatever he would like about his religion. Tim Tebow has done amazing things for America, and I do not think that it is a “crush” that America has on him, I think we are realizing that there are actual good people in the NFL and not just a bunch of gangsters and thugs. I am not saying that’s how all the players are, but it is great that Tebow stands up for what he believes in. He isn’t pushing his religion down anyone’s throat, he is putting it out there for them to see, so that they are aware, and if they choose to believe, good for them. I am a seventeen year old girl and even I can understand all of this. Tim Tebow is a great guy, let him do what he’s doing and when he messes up, or fails, then criticize him. DON’T FIX SOMETHING THATS NOT BROKEN.

He gets paid to PLAY football. Sounds like you have the typical liberal stance that people should tolerate anything, except Christianity, or anything else that you stand against.

  24. Gloria Says:

Have you read Psalm 21:3 that you quoted? Seems to be prophetic–”You (God) welcomed him with rich blessings and placed a crown of gold on his head.”

  25. You are pathetic Says:

Get over yourself. No one cares what you think when they are giving interviews. His religion is part of who he is. He is not going to change that for your or anyone else.

  26. Daryl Says:

So he is wrong for mentioning GOD??? you are wrong sir. He has done nothing wrong but be himself. HE LOVES GOD!!! Thats not religion!

  27. Obamablows Says:

Hahaha, so, you would rather have a “quarterback” than a winner? LOL. Thank you for you being the definition of loser and an idiot. An to your comment of being tired of having Jesus shoved down your throat, I guess you prefer Sandusky to shove it down your throat?

  28. mike brown Says:

So, you don”t believe in FREEDOM OF SPEECH or FREEDOM OF RELIGION thats just plain unamerican .. My brother and many others died

  30. Jack Says:

I’m guessing you probably recoil at the sight of Holy Water, too. Listen, Tim is a QB. I don’t know how you’re missing that point, but an NFL team is paying him serious money to quarterback their ram. He’s playing the position of QB. When he calls the plays he’s QB’ng. When he jacks up the team to new levels he’s QB’ng. I looked just now at the Broncos roster lineup and dangit, they have Tim listed as a QB. So, where is this coming from that Tebow is not a Quarterback?

Tim Tebow is a real and traditional Quarterback, according to the definition of the term.

The term “quarterback” gained acceptance in the 1930s, it originally referred to the player’s position relative to other members of the offensive backfield. Before the emergence of the T-formation in the 1940s, all members of the offensive backfield were legitimate threats to run or pass the ball, and most teams used four offensive backs on every play: a quarterback, two halfbacks, and a fullback. The quarterback began each play a quarter of the way back, the halfbacks began each play side by side and halfway back, and the fullback began each play the farthest back. Now that most offensive formations have only one or two running backs, the original designations do not mean as much, as the fullback is now usually a lead blocker (technically a halfback), while the halfback or tailback (called such because he stands at the “tail” of the I) lines up behind the fullback.

Did you catch that? Run or pass.

Tim does both. You can claim he can’t throw but I’ll direct your attention to the Houston game, 12/26/2010 – 16/29 308 yards. Soooo … you got no legs to stand on.

If on the other hand Tim just irritates you, I can accept that. But it would be nice of you were honest about it rather than trying to pretty up the Hate by claiming he can’t throw like Brady. Well, guess what? Brady couldn’t throw like Brady for the first couple of years just as John Elway threw dead ducks and picks for the first three years and continued to throw picks all the way through his super bowls.

C’mon, Just admit it. Tim makes you see red. You hate him for being Tim. C’mon, at least that would be as honest as … well, as honest as Tim is.

  31. Bob Diamond Says:

I for one am glad to hear a superb athlete like Tim Tebow give God the credit for his innate strength and abilities; not to claim god-ship for himself. I’ll never get tired of hearing Tim glorifying God on the national stage. May God continue to bless Tim Tebow and other athletes who are not afraid to stand up for their belief in Him.

  32. jeff Says:

    WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

  33. mike Says:

    hater, much?

  34. Josh Harrison Says:

dude i think your issue is with GOD not with tebow and thats your problem hes a great kid and an old school football player gritty tough as nails put down your satanic bible even if he fails miserably he doesnt shove anything in anyones face do you not have the right to change the channel its your choice to watch him an his charismatic self lol….

  35. timtebow Says:

Remarkable things here. I am very glad to see your article. Thanks a lot and I am having a look ahead to touch you. Will you kindly drop me a mail?

  36. Bushel Bob Says:

Napolean Bonaparte once said – “give me generals who are lucky”. Tim Tebow is lucky, or Blessed. No matter how badly he and his team fair throughout their games, they retain faith that might somehow, miraculously, begin scoring points – enough points to at least tie the game, send it into overtime, in order to win. The key is having faith. And it’s working. Teams who had the game well in hand now can explain a new term in sports vernacular – “Tebowed”. He’s lucky. And that luck is contagious as Prater’s 50+ yards field goals bear witness. I say – more Power to them.

  37. Tim Tebos Says:

Personally I’d rather see Tebow than Tom Brady, who whines like a child at every incomplete pass.

  38. Morris Says:

People talk about the Denver defense and how they deserve much credit. They … but the defense played so well as when Orton was under center. Tebow is a number, of course, is not impressive, but his presence, and only about their power has increased, that the defense plays, where they are one of the best in the league, because Tebow is taking over. whatever, we can get more info on http://www.tebowformvp.com/, thanx
