This is embarrassing!
Wow, do the Browns suck or what? They’re horrible! Unless something drastically changes, I wouldn’t expect us to win one game the whole season. And this is coming from a fan who thought we’d be 7-9 on the season this year, someone who thought we’d at least be competitive in most games, and someone who doesn’t normally fly off the handle when things look bad. Well things are looking really bad!
During half time, Shannon Sharpe made a comment that everyone watching the Browns had an idea that the team was bad, but they in fact are even worse when you see them live. What did he mean by that? I wasn’t angry with him in the least for making that comment. He’s right. However, I want to know what exactly he sees on that field that makes us a worse team than we actually think by just watching them on TV. I wish he had elaborated and told us what he was seeing.
It makes me physically sick to see the Browns perform the way they are. It’s pathetic and an extreme disappointment. Browns fans deserve better than this crap we see on the field every week. We are the joke of the entire NFL. If you think I’m wrong, ask anyone who the worst team in the league is. The answer is sure to be the Browns.
If you’re still arguing about who’s better, Quinn or DA, then you’re not paying attention. The Browns suck at just about everything in the game, not just passing. Do I care that Quinn was yanked after just 2 and a half games? NO I don’t! Do I care that DA came in and threw 3 interceptions? Nope, I don’t care about that either. Quinn sucks worse than Charlie Frye and DA was just trying to force plays. (DA sucks too, but I hope to God he starts this coming Sunday.) I was one of the people calling for Quinn to start, I’ll admit that. But he is terrible. He will not throw down field! You cannot tell me that the play calling is different for Quinn and DA. That’s BS. Quinn chooses to throw to the RB and TE on almost every play and is afraid and/or not able to throw downfield. DA isn’t afraid to throw anything, and I’m starting to understand that having a timid and scared QB is much much worse than having an inaccurate one.
I’m hearing rumblings that DA will start this Sunday against Cincinnati. That could be about the best news I’ve heard since Quinn was named the starter at the beginning of the season. It’s funny how everything, including who the QB will be, is all a relative perspective.
For all those who are calling for Mangini’s head already, I understand your reasoning. I’ve even called for it myself when I was still upset Monday over Sunday’s performance. However, we’re still paying Crennel’s salary and there’s no way they’ll buy Mangini out too and pay three coach’s salaries. We’re stuck with the guy for 3 years. Maybe he’ll work out, maybe he won’t, but I think he’s here for a while.

Quinn will not throw downfield because THERE’S NO ONE TO THROW IT TO!!! Are you paying attention? How can you say the problem with Quinn is that he won’t throw downfield? Look what happens when you get a QB who doesn’t care that there’s no one to throw to downfield. DA has THREE interceptions. You honestly think it’s better to have a QB who’s inaccurate and willing to wing the ball downfield for an interception is better than having a smart QB who’d rather dump the ball off to an open guy for short yardage? You’re kidding me! The problem is not Quinn. The problem is the whole team.

Wake up man! Quinn isn’t throwing downfield because he’s afraid of getting picked off. He’s too afraid. DA got thrown into the game and came out firing, throwing three picks in the process. Gee, I wonder why that happened. Baltimore knows we’re not going to run the ball much down 20 points, and DA knows that he has to take chances with ball to score any kind of points. It’s a vicious cycle, and yes DA sucks too.
You seriously would rather have a “Smart” QB who dumps the ball off to an open guy for short yardage??? AND NEVER SCORES A TD OR WINS A GAME??? You’re the one who’s got to be joking! There are problems with the receivers as well as the whole team. Cribbs has no business being the second receiver. The whole thing sucks. Quinn sucks, DA sucks, the offense sucks, the defense sucks, and the coaching sucks.
Don’t try and tell me that Quinn isn’t part of the problem. I think you might just believe that I am a DA fan, but in all actuality I hate Quinn and DA, but I can see now that we have no shot whatsoever of winning with Quinn.

Furthermore, I was willing to let Quinn lose every game this season so that he might learn on the job. However, it became painfully obvious that he isn’t learning anything and that he’s another failed draft pick of Phil Savage. Can’t anyone else now see the reasons why so many other teams passed up on Quinn? Can’t anyone else see that Quinn had three seasons to win the starting job in training camp, outright, but failed to do so each time. He’s NOT even good enough to snatch the starting job up in practice, when our receivers aren’t being covered well! Don’t give me crap about how it’s not his fault. It isn’t ALL his fault, I know that, but he’s definitely a big part of the problem.

Dave, no offense, but Mike is right - you need to wake up, man. Here’s what I will say about the QB controversy - there shouldn’t be one. I said at the beginning that Quinn should be given the chance to start. He did and he’s terrible. But Mangini should have stuck behind Quinn, left him in and let him get some more experience. Who cares if the Browns go 4-12, 6-10 or 0-16. They were not going to make the playoffs this year. So take the opportunity to work on stuff now. And I don’t know about anyone else, but I was sick to death of all the QB switching going on in Cleveland. How many QB’s have we had since 1999? 12? I don’t know, but probably at least that many. Select a QB and stand behind him, dammit. I called this in the preseason - Quinn is going to have a bad game and he’ll get yanked. Anderson is terrible for one reason - he has one awesome game and then five bad ones follow it. You can’t rely on him. Anyway, they will mess with Quinn’s mind now, by benching him. And Mike is right; Anderson will probably start now - even though he tossed three interceptions, at least he was trying to throw the ball and make something happen. Yes, he forced the ball, but at least he tried to make a play. Quinn does nothing but screens. The whole team is terrible, yes. But what do you expect for a team with a new GM, new head coach, 26 new players and a new coaching staff? Mangini couldn’t handle Favre. What makes you think this would be any different? OK, enough with that rant.
